I heard this from a well known motivational speaker Jim Rohn. A few disciplines practiced daily.
Such a simplistic thought but we make it so complicated. Few not many otherwise you would have difficulty keeping up with the change. Disciplines that we should be doing for our own good. Daily practice to make the discipline become part of our everyday life.
I began this post a while back. I never revisited it until today. I can say this is really a true statement. Several months ago I attended a huge convention in Salt Lake City. I was astounded by how much walking we did. One of my days was 15,000 steps. We walked our butts off for 5 days. Each day we would collapse in our hotel room.
After the convention I challenged myself to walk a few times a week for at least 30 minutes. After a month I began walking 5 days a week. I added 3 challenges to the routine (ab, push up and squat). Then I began walking for an hour. Then running a few sprints during the walk. Now I sprint for at least 5 minutes and walk for a hour. Don't think that I am totally brilliant. I tried to add a couch to 5k to the routine after the first month. It did not go well. I took that off until now.
Discipline itself is not something that happens overnight. It takes dedication to make the new habit stick. Being a career starter has made me see the only way I get through new things is to add them gradually.
I wish you luck in your endeavors. Remember, everything starts with one small step. Once you get up and make that step the subsequent steps become easier over time.
